I loved reading in my formative years. Beloved favorites were the “Adventurous Four” and “The Famous Five” written by Enid Blyton. I would read the series over and over again. During this time, I developed a passion for writing. I am very happy to sit and write.
An inspiring High School creative writing teacher as well as an influential college creative writing teacher gave me confidence and helped fuel my desire to write. I went into the nursing profession but continued my love of writing.
When my three children were young, I loved reading to them and making up stories to tell them. This continued with my grandchildren.
Reading is important to me. I believe reading well is the window to the world; if you can read well, you can go anywhere and do anything. I am an advocate of reading to our children, taking the time to sit with them, opening a book and teaching them a love of reading through example.
